Summary/Abstract: The article presents the specific characteristics of time in both of the works written by Luke. The first point outlines the biblical, linear concept of time. It was remembered that regarding the understanding of time, the New Testament assumes the data of the Old Testament, but with the coming of Jesus Christ, the central point of history was moved to the beginning of the Messianic era, the eschatological eon. The second point presents two fundamental theories regarding the specific concept of time, and thus the history in the opus Lucanum: Christ as the new center of time and history (O. Cullmann) and the time of Jesus as the “mid part of time” (H. Conzelmann). In the third, central point of the article, attention was dedicated to the four specific definitions of time used by Luke. Taking into consideration the micro- and macro-context of the pericope in which they occur, the content of the terms “the year of Lord’s favor”, (Lk 13, 8 and 4.19); “the day and the days of the Son of Man” (Luke 17, 22-37); “the times of the nations” (Luke 21.24); “the last days” (Acts 2:17) was determined. The analysis proved that the opus Lucanum can also be seen as an attempt to a new interpretation of time, extending between the moment of the ascension of Jesus Christ and the implementation of the announcement of His parousia. The goal which the evangelist seemed to be guided by was the need to uphold the zealous expectation of the fulfillment of new times, a living hope for the full realization of the kingdom of God, initiated by the coming of Jesus and by His salvific works, but still continuing the process of becoming.
