Summary/Abstract: We do not find our authors mentioning or pleading for the pre-eminence of a successor of Simon. This silence from their part, however, should not lead us to hold that Peter's successor has no role to serve the unity of the Church. Both are God's gifts and grace: Simon's preeminence and the apostleship of each of the apostles. In such a context, it would be unjust to hold one and to deny the other. In short we need to wait for Christ's own grace to understand and believe in both gifts given to the Church. God is three and one; it is up to us to accept what He is and what He has given.
