Summary/Abstract: Out of his teaching about chenosis, St. Cyril points out the argument that “The Son of God, taking our humanity, remained at the same time the Son of God, because otherwise how and from where would we know that He Himself is the One who works the humble things and suffers through His umanity? And, if He did not remain the Son of God, how could He have defeated the passions and ordeal in our human nature deifying it”. Theological hermeneutics of St. Cyril’s Christology generally accredits its normative character, together with the dogmatic decisions of Chalcedon. However, as previously stated, from the perspective of contemporary theology, there are some aspects which are not very clear, but certainly, there are also more profound orthodox aspects of the cyrilian theology which are still waiting to be discovered by theologians.
