Summary/Abstract: The article interprets the selected poems by Eugeniusz Tkaczyszyn-Dycki which use the trope of obituary. The author points out its functions. First, the obituary introduces an elegiac tone that characterizes the poet as a melancholic subject, focused on the theme of a funeral. Second, this form has a meta-poetic function which allows an affective and linguistic reflection on the experience of death.
