Summary/Abstract: Inter-Confessional Relations in Republic of Moldova. Few Aspects of Applied Geo-Theology. The inter-confessional relations in the Republic of Moldova (RM) are to a large extent different from those existing in other mainly Orthodox countries. This situation is determined by the Moldovan Orthodox Church’s (MOC) negative perception and interpretation of the ecumenical dialogue. In terms of external affairs, the contacts of the MOC with other Western Churches are limited to scarce formal collaborations. The rationale behind the maintenance of the external inter-confessional relations at this level of estrangement resides in the defensive reaction belonging to the Moldovan representatives of the Orthodox churches and monasteries, and to some non for profit organizations that advocate for the total alienation of the MOC from other Western Churches. In terms of internal affairs, the inter-confessional relations can be depicted as rather tense. In this context, one cannot refer to a real collaboration. Following the paths of the Russian Orthodox Church, the MOC plays a significant role in the state as well; this fact allows it to keep the inter-confessional relations outside the interests that are given priority. Consequently, in this paper we will attempt to address the real situation of the inter-confessional relations in the RM and the grounds that define the (in)existence of such rapports.
