Summary/Abstract: The issue of controlling business activities of entrepreneurs is an extremely broad one. Due to the limited framework of this study, port control of ships has been made the subject of this paper. The development of the existing system for controlling compliance with shipping safety standards has been analysed in depth. International, EU, and Polish legal solutions concerning port control of ships have been presented, analysed, and evaluated. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the analysed system of ship control. The research method used in this paper is dogmatic and legal.
