Summary/Abstract: The torque M and the number of engine revolutions n are, as shown in this paper, transformed into the circumferential (traction, driving) force at the point F_O and the speed of the vehicle v. The speed characteristic of the engine is reflected, as a function of the transmission parameters, in the characteristic of the available circumferential force as a function of the speed of movement. By analogy with the speed characteristic of the engine, this characteristic is called the traction-speed characteristic of the vehicle, which is the output indicator of the joint operation of the propulsion engine and the vehicle transmission, taking into account the dynamic radius of the wheels. In the case of diagnostic analysis in the process of vehicle maintenance, a rule called "six steps" can be found in the literature. This rule can be briefly described as organized problem solving, which is done in Title 2 of this paper
