Summary/Abstract: The incarnation of the Son is not limited to the restoration of man, in the state before his fall into sin, but in it is also accomplished the perfection of man, his full deification, a state to which Adam had not reached. Redemption is an act of restoring man’s Edenic state, as Adam was before sin. So salvation cannot leave man unclean, untransformed. The Christian is a new creature, with the help of divine grace. According to the teaching of the Holy Scriptures and the Holy Fathers, divine grace is not a good in itself, detachable from God. Grace is the expression of God’s love for us human beings.
