Summary/Abstract: In Slovenia, the Vilenica International Literary Prize has been awarded to a Central European author for an outstanding achievement in literature or essay writing since 1986. The award recognizes an outstanding achievement in prose writing and essays, with a special focus on Central European themes. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary in 2005, the jury decided to award two outstanding authors – Ilma Rakusa and Karl-Markus Gauß for their exceptional work on transcultural topics. This article highlights their literary achievements.
