Summary/Abstract: This text discusses the role of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the prevention of violent extremism from the position of theologico-legal and value principles of Islamic moderation – wasatiyya. The paper discusses the return of/to religiosity in the post-socialist context and the challenge of violent extremism along with the response of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina thereto, primarily through the activities of the Center for Dialogue – Wasatiyya. The paper presents the basic principles of moderation in the prevention of violent extremism. The paper deals with defining what moderate Muslims and extremists do, points out the reasons that benefit the emergence of extremism and offers an answer to the question of prevention of violent extremism through moderation.
