Summary/Abstract: This article is dedicated to a performance analysis of Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances. The author focuses on the study ofmeans of musical expressiveness in the context of the conductor’s interpretation. The tempo, metro rhythm, agogics, dynamics, articulation, orchestral palette, timbre ensemble and the leitmotivs of the work are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to theidentifi cation and performing interpretation of elements of jazz styles features (bebop, swing, blues, cool jazz), as well as Latin American dance rhythms (mambo, cha-cha) and their relationship with the content of the orchestral work. Recommendationson conducting fi ngering are also given.
