Summary/Abstract: Three writers, humanist contemporaries, who took part in the war in Spain and othercountries in the 30-ties and 40-ties of the 20-th century, the memories from these wars theyinked in paper that took the form of their extraordinary novels. These works represent the coreof their success and the subject-matter of the study of many contemporary critics. Out ofmany stylistic and aesthetic analyses that were undertaken. We have chosen as the subjectmatter of my study the narrative shifts and peculiarities in the novels One Night and twoDawns, A farewell to Arms and All Quiet on the Western Front.The subject matter of our study focuses on the legitimacy of the structure of literaryworks, drawing a parallel with the extra textual relations like the historical, politicalcircumstances and the individual and societal mentality at the time of creation of these works.Our study, as far as the internal research, will focus on three aspects: the functional plain, thenarrative plain, and the plain of action. The chronology of our study is based on the narrativeanalysis, the structure of deep literary, scientific, philosophical knowledge, the linguisticstructure and the figurative meaning of it, as well as the common peculiarities, influences,with other works, the writing style of the period in which the authors lived and wrote as wellas the individual style of theirs.
