Summary/Abstract: The Prophet p.b.u.h and both his verbal and non-verbal heritage is an inexhaustible source of inspiration to all generations of Muslims. Considering the great significance of the public sphere and its power to shape people in terms of their perception and identity, it is necessary to gain an insight into the Prophet’s model of communication so as to see more clearly the postulates on which his communication was based. The communicability of an Islamic identity is a precondition for its survival and dynamism. Without it, an identity loses its force becoming merely tradition and a set of inherited customs. The Prophet’s biography (Sīra) and Hadith offer a theoretical and an applicable framework for analysing the Prophet’s model of communication in the public sphere from which one can derive the most important pointers for preserving the essence of the Prophet’s heritage and way of life.
