Summary/Abstract: The article discusses, first, the causes of the advancement and progress of Muslims in history; second, the reasons for their decline; and lastly, the possible disappearance of Muslims. In the first case (progress), the author insists on the need for Muslims to come closer to the Qur’an as a constitution and to the ways in which the Prophet communicated with people. In the second case (decline) the author highlights the discrepancy between the actions of Muslims and the course of the Islamic program and way of life, again highlighting the methods of the Prophet and his guidelines, which place emphasis on following the Qur’an. It follows that reading the Qur’an is not an act of worship (ʽibāda) only, but it also brings tangible benefits in life. The message of the article is that one should not be concerned with how often one recites the Qurʼan, but in realising the need to understand the Qur’an by reading it.
