Summary/Abstract: Following the artistic chronicles of the last years, we find an increased interest in the engraving art. First, in Ljubljana (1955) then in Krakow, Varna, Ploiesti, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, the Szekely Land, Bucharest, Tulcea and Iasi, a long-lastingtradition of organizing international print biennial festivals was formed. This practice was taken over and implemented in Chisinau, where the International Engraving Biennial was founded, which in 2019, celebrated its fifth edition. The evolution of the International Engraving Biennial from Chisinau during its 10 years of existence has had an upward trend. This factor is reflected in an increase in the number of participants, the constant diversifi cation of engraving techniques, the enrichment of the thematic range, and the increase of international visibility. International gatherings, the spirit of competitionand the high standards of professional requirements transform the International Engraving Biennial into an importantcultural event.
