Summary/Abstract: After a distinct Muslim interest in practical and legal (fikh) issues and problems in the past few decades, there is an increased interest in the institution of fatwa not only on practical but also on theoretical, scientific and social level in Muslim countries as well as in Muslim diaspora. During this period many international scientific symposia were held about fatwa institution, of which the most significant were held in Kuwait in 2007, and in Mecca in 2009, organized by the Academy for Islamic law of Rabitta, under the name of „Fatwa and its rules“. Since the intensive debate about the so called isolated fatwas has been led for the last few years, we have dedicated this paper to the clearing of some aspects of the aforementioned problem. The focus has been directed to definition of the notion isolated fatwas, the legal status of such fatwas and to their causes and consequences.
