Synthesis as a research objective

Summary/Abstract: In the face of abundance of fragmentary research projects and epidemic dissemination of scientific journals, the article is dedicated to synthesis as a research objective. The author draws upon profound experience gained in the period in which it constituted a part of government and ministry research projects as a separate research assignment. The article encompasses the definition of synthesis and a creative context of this notion, exemplary synthesis made by Jantsch, Szczepański and Tomaszewski, the problem of utility of science, interrelations between phenomena, generalizations, theoretical statements, theory construction, laws of science as well as the question of dependence of the synthesis level upon the scope of analyzed aspects of social reality.
