PRESENT-DAY POLITICAL DISCOURSE: PECULIARITIES AND METHODS OF ANALYSIS

Summary/Abstract: The article reveals the basic tendencies of the development of the present-day political communication. On the basis of the texts produced in the framework of political communication in the Nizhegorodsky region of Russia, there have been determined the correlations between the course of political life of the society and the linguistic mechanisms involved in the introspection of political activity. The aim of this article is to describe the linguistic methods of analysis which help to evaluate the work of mass media, analyze the speech strategies of political parties and political figures in perspective. The principal methods of such analyses are content analysis, intent analysis, discourse analysis used to represent the speech characteristics of politicians, the structure of intentional components in the texts of election campaigns, socio-political preferences of mass media. At the end of the article, the prospects for such analysis are presented.
