Summary/Abstract: The monograph « Dialects of South-West Gemer », issued in two volumes (2020 and 2021), is part of a compendium of dialects of Gemer, the most extensive work in Slovak dialectology, published as part of Professor Štefan Tóbik’s legacy. The monograph deals with a description of the phonemic system used in dialects of South-West Gemer from both diachronic and synchronic viewpoints. The morphological and lexical levels also provide a lot of data. The author analysed dialectical material from fifty-nine areas of South-West Gemer, acquired by means of direct field research in the 1930s and 1940s. In 1951, the author presented the work in the extent of 728 pages for his post-graduate final exam at the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, and was awarded the title Philosophiae Doctor.
