Summary/Abstract: Known as a “conservatist intellectual”, Samiya Ayverdi is important both in the area of conservatist modernization period and women issue in Turkey. Ayverdi has chosen a sufi spiritual guard for herself named as Ahmet Rifâî, who was supporting modernist Islam against the radical traditional Islam. After the death of Rifâî she became the political and religious leader of her mystic group for 30 years. Although she does not appear as a well- known figure in the encyclopedic book published by İletişim Publications, “Political Discourse within the Contemporary Turkish Political Thought vol. 10: Feminism”, Ayverdi is a very popular leader within the Turkish conservatism as an unique woman author. Mostly compared against Halide Edip Adıvar in Turkish literature, Ayverdi proposes a new conservatist women type who would be accepted by the new society as being both traditional and intellectually strong. In this article Ayverdi’s thesis will on women issue be tried to be explained
