The New Rules of the Criminal Procedure Code Regarding Citizens’ Participation in Criminal Cases

Summary/Abstract: The new Criminal Procedure Code has introduced new rules, which guarantee the rights of the accused party in respect of criminal liability. The accused may give explanations in each moment of the proceedings. The crime victim also acquires new legal opportunities. He shall be able to authorize an attorney as well as to appeal against a series of acts issued by the bodies entrusted with preliminary criminal proceedings. The number of cases in which the state procedural bodies shall appoint officially attorneys for defence of crime victims has increased.
