Summary/Abstract: Schema therapy is a relatively new integrative psychotherapeutic approach developed for complex, chronic and personality problems, mainly personality disorders, but also for chronic depression and complex trauma. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is the most common mental health disorder in which schema therapy is applied. The effectiveness of schema therapy in BPD is also best researched and supported by a number of promising results from scientific studies. Specific procedures for BPD were developed both within individual and group schema therapy. The aim of the article is to introduce theoretical background, model and therapeutic interventions of the schema therapy firstly in general. Further on the article focuses on the specifications of the schema therapy approach in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder.
