Summary/Abstract: The article outlines the overall character of terrorism as an ultimate form of violence, banned by international and national legislation, damaging the international and internal regulations, security and human rights, initially oriented towards suppression of the political opponent. The article provides an extensive data on the general aspects of criminal law protection against terrorism. A profound historical review of the international community efforts in the combat against terrorism is made. Special attention is paid to the legislative activity of the UN and EC, as well as to the implementation of the international engagements of the Republic of Bulgaria for adequate regulation of the various forms of terrorism by its national legislation.
