Ontological de-gradation and temporality in Emil Cioran

Summary/Abstract: This paper investigates the stages of ontological de-gradation, as presentes in the work of Emil Cioran, La chute dans le temps, arguing that each of these three stages – primordial being, historical being, posthistorical being – can be linked to a certain „state of consciousness” and temporality. To this purpose, we will make appeal to a few concepts from I.D. Gherea’s phenomenology, also revealing the similarities of perspective of the two Romanian philosophers.
