Summary/Abstract: After several studies in which he had analysed the features of the Romanian soul, Constantin Rădulescu-Motru, both a systematic philosopher and a psychologist, aimed to provide a synthesis and a conclusion in his work Romanian Ethnicity. Here he offered more than a moral portrait of the Romanian cultural identity; he exposed a general theory on how the ethnicity is constituted as a progressive awareness of the community of origin, language and destiny of a people. This essay aims to make explicit his demonstration, to show how it applies to the Romanian cultural space, to present the philosopher’s conclusions about the finality of ethno-psychology, to which he attributes not only a theoretical utility, but also an active social role in educating the masses and consolidating the nation-state by cultivating patriotic feelings.
