Summary/Abstract: Very often, medical staff is not adequately prepared for death which they encounter in their professional life. not only is there no bereavement counselling provided, but rather there is a tendency to suppress distressing thoughts, alternatively to distract attention from this painful experience. These moments do not occur very often, however, the medical staff considers them extremely challenging, not to mention the bereaved family. This paper presents an overview of effective and ineffective communication techniques with bereaved family following the loss of a child.
