Summary/Abstract: The article looks at current problems of nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament. It is particularly about Germany´s commitment to strengthening the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and to achieving a success of its 10th review conference which will take place this year. A number of international initiatives for nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament as well as the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty are particularly considered. A certain contradiction becomes clear: While the German federal government emphasizes on the one hand a world free of nuclear weapons, on the other hand it is sticking to the stationing of US atomic bombs on German soil and rejecting the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
