Summary/Abstract: The paper looks at Germany’s position towards Russia in the face of major international security problems after the end of the Cold War: the 1999 NATO enlargement, the conflict over Kosovo, the 2003 Persian Gulf War, the conflict between Russia and Georgia, and the conflict in Ukraine. All these issues had a significant impact on the international security environment, and they aroused great emotions, highlighting several differences in the positions taken by individual actors in international relations. In the paper, an attempt has also been made to pinpoint the importance of the Russian Federation in Germany’s foreign policy.
