The concept of verbal aspect in Greek linguistics: development and major problems

Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to the development of the conception of verbal aspect and to the description of this category in Greek linguistics. We pay attention to the main studies concerning the problem of the Greek verbal aspect by examining the place of the fundamental works from the beginning of the emergence of linguistic interest in this category, following the progressive development in this field. We emphasize the contributions to overcoming traditional grammatical approaches and classical grammatical terminology in the interpretation and description of the category.
