Summary/Abstract: The paper tackles the architectural oeuvre of Karel Pařík for the convents of the Franciscan province of the Holy Cross – Bosna Argentina. Karel Pařík was one of the most productive foreign architects, whose engagement peak took place during the Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pařík’s the most notable projects until 1918, were public buildings, receiving international recognition for those. As of 1921, he receives commissions for the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna and the Franciscan province Bosna Argentina, and three projects for the convent site of the latter, are the topic of this paper. The paper presents Pařík’s educational and professional development process, conditions and circumstances in which emerged the church in Kreševo and convents in Plehan and Jajce followed with overview of earlier layers of architecture as well as their present state. The development and the features of Pařík’s works have been critically evaluated using accessible sources, primarily original projects, showing the relationship of these commissions with contemporary movements.
