Summary/Abstract: The article represents a brief summary of our knowledge of the cult of Mithras. In addition, the author elucidates the similarities and fundamental differences between the cult of Mithras and Christianity. The author, in the absence of written sources, analyzes mithraistic iconography on which he bases his further analysis. This paper presents particular historical circumstances in order to draw a clearer picture of the period in which Mithraism and Christianity appear within the Roman Empire.
