History and spatial development of Jewish settlement (17th–19th century) in Piotrków Trybunalski based on selected source materials

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the historical overview and spatial development of the district, called the Jewish City of Piotrków. Due to the important role of Piotrków Trybunalski, primarily as a royal city, and then as a Piotrków Governorate town, the source material for the article are selected relations of the city residents and prominent visitors. The image of the district that emerges from the available documents, does not deviate significantly from the development of similar areas in these Polish cities that have been granted by privilegium de non tolerandis Judaeis.
