Summary/Abstract: The domination of a metropolitan social theory is the main topic of Raewlyn Connell’s work. Her 2007 book titled The Southern Theory: The Global Dynamics of Knowledge in Social Science has provoked discussion among European and American sociologists alike. The main axis of the work revolves around questioning the beginning and evolution of sociology, and showing alternative sources of social knowledge. Undoubtedly, the book has its advantages and disadvantages, and the discussion of sociologists on preserving or changing the existing paradigm of social sciences has also absorbed Polish sociologists.
