Summary/Abstract: The article considers the historical retrospective of the people’s right to resist. Antiquity is analyzed as the period of origin of the studied law, which is disclosed through the works of famous philosophers and thinkers. The main historical documents that provided certain prerequisites for the existence of this right are analyzed. The events that took place in Ukraine and had historically important consequences for the right to resist are studied.
