Towards the Problem of Defining Concepts of Conductor’s Nonverbal Expression

Summary/Abstract: The study addresses the issue of defining concepts related to phenomena and processes in the sphere of a conductor’s nonverbal communication. The most common ways of forming terms and expressions as well as their specific semantic nuances have been presented. The multifaceted nature of the phenomena arising from their close dependence on a number of objective and subjective factors has been emphasized and viewed as a specific feature that impedes the formation of terminology. The text advances the idea that the definition of concepts could be assisted by the implementation of structural models based on selected classification features. This would facilitate the formation and definition of a conductor’s lexis and its appropriate use in the course of pedagogical and music interpretation processes.
