Interest Representation in Slovakia: Towards Corporatism?

Summary/Abstract: Interest Representation in Slovakia: Towards Corporatism? The paper examines the development of interest organisation in Slovakia from the point of view of four theoretical models of interest representation: pluralism, party-archy, state and societal corporatism. It is argued that due to the interplay of historical, international, institutional and cultural factors tendency towards corporatism is the dominant form of' relation between the state and interest organisations. The paper considers possible impacts of this tendency on consolidation of democracy.
