Summary/Abstract: María Reimóndez is a writer, translator and interpreter, researcher and social activist. Her novels discuss the problems that are also reflected in other areas of the professional and public activity of the author. The novel A música dos seres vivos (2015) focuses on the topics derived from ethnic, sexual and gender discrimination. The main issue of the story told in the book is the question of the voice and how a subaltern subject can express itself in the Western world. The novel which is analysed in this article proposes several possibilities of the communication, including music. The author of the article refers to the feminist and postcolonial theories as well as the musical sciences to analyse the problems of the silence and the voice in A música dos seres vivos of María Reimóndez in the global context of her socio-political project.
