Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to reveal some aspects of the grammatical neologisms adaptation process, considering several grammar texts from the second part of the eighteenth century. The examples of terms are selected especially from Radu Tempea’s Romanian Grammar from 1797. The neologism is a lexical mean used mostly in grammar texts from the modern period of Romanian literary language. In the first texts, the terms are formed through loan translation, but gradually neologisms, borrowed from other languages, have replaced the old terms. The Romanian grammar terminology consists especially of Latin words which have been adapted of Romanian specific. This paper analyzes the phonetic and morphological particularities of the grammatical terms adaptation. Some of the phonetic phenomena are due to contact with other languages such as German, taking in consideration the fact that Tempea’s grammar was written in Transylvania.
