Religious issues in the constitutional drafts of 1989—1991

Summary/Abstract: The article characterises various postulates in religious matters included in eleven constitutional projects from 1989 to 1991. The ground-breaking significance for constitutional legislation of three religious acts which were passed on 17 May 1989 has been pointed out. An attempt has been made to determine to what extent the postulates concerning religious issues contained in the constitutional drafts and provisions of the religious acts were reflected in the text of the Constitution of 1997.
