Summary/Abstract: Traditional community dispute settlement practices have been increasingly replaced by modern institutions of justice to keep up with abrupt demographic changes, accelerated urbanization and revolutionary technological transformations. Thus, community reconciliation and harmony have been replaced by punitive state intervention, ensuring an indispensable requirement of the rule of law, namely an impartial and independent justice system, which ultimately ensures compliance with the law. But from the perspective of the rule of law, disputes can be resolved in other ways than judicial ones, mediation being one of them, with recognized benefits in terms of time savings, accessibility of costs and the potential to protect and restore social relations. But mediation can also be organized through modern means of communication. Thus, with a special look towards Moldova Republic and Romania, the article highlights how to resolve online disputes through mediation, listing the advantages and methodology of this flexible mechanism, especially in the context of the challenges induced by the global pandemic Covid-19.
