Summary/Abstract: After considering the above facts, we can only give a negative answer to the question of whether the infinitive can be taken as the basic form of the verb. So, for the description of the Gegërisht changes, we tackle with the first singular of present active indicative. The choice of this topic as a basic form is justified not only for the reasons listed above, but also for pragmatic reasons, as it allows us to compare the morphological system of Gegërisht with the morphological system of Tosk Albanian and standard Albanian.
