The Concept and Divisions of Public Assignments with a Particular Focus on the Functions of Local Government

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to examine the concept of a public assignment, its possible divisions, and the distinguishable patterns of work scheduled. Given that the system of public administration now functions according to principles including subsidiarity and decentralisation, special attention is focused on public assignments carried out by the individual structures of the local government. The considerations are based on the appropriate professional literature, binding legal regulations (on constitutional grounds as well as regular legislation) and jurisdiction, which completes the analysed issues.
