Summary/Abstract: The novel Ciko and Beni which has a theme on anti-fascist war is one of the rare creations by Naum Prifti that marks deviation from schematism. This departure from the scheme is made possible by the viewpoint of the narrated events: the novel is free from hyperbole and excessive heroism that characterizes literary creations with a theme on war. The fact that the novel has autobiographical elements has also contributed to its departure from schematism. The author has narrated the events of his childhood, lending a hand to the child’s fantasy. The narrator of the novel is omniscient, while the narrative of the events in the novel follows a chronological order focusing on some specific situations that the author’s memory has preserved. The tone, the narrative, the selection of situations and especially the fantasy that characterizes the characters make the novel Ciko and Ben the best children’s work of Naum Prifti.
