Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present the necessary arguments so that the Councils held in Constantinople in 879–880 and in 1351 could be accepted as Ecumenical Councils. The author gives a historical overview of the reception of these Councils in the Orthodox Church showing that they were considered to be Ecumenical before the “western enslavement” of Orthodox theology, and in the end gives concrete suggestions concerning the work of the future Great Pan-Оrthodox Council.
