Summary/Abstract: This essay attempts to portray the possible development of separation of the modern term of “personality”, in struggle for its autonomy, from its triadological root, from where this term began its development as a designation for a completely relational entity. The most important points of departure during that development are Descartes and Kant. Furthermore, it is established that the modern subject carries within itself the indelible marks of the constitutional part of the Other. Investigating those marks of the Other, the author used Lacan as his main and constant reference. The relevance of modern concepts of personality for the possible new theological synthesis is emphasized at the end, through which the term „person“, derived from triadology and based on Christology, could be unambiguously be applied in theological anthropology.
