Summary/Abstract: The Valea Uzului military cemetery came to the fore when the mayor of Dărmănești set up a plot of Romanian military gravesand then erected 52 concrete crosses in the graveyard without any permission. The case culminated on June 6, 2019, whenRomanian organizations tried to inaugurate the previously placed monument and concrete crosses. In response, the Hungariancommunity formed a live chain to prevent the inauguration. After the incident, a series of political debates ensued, bringing thecemetery to the forefront of media and political attention.
