Summary/Abstract: Traditional linguistic thought considers that the modal adverb bien admits a single superlative form, the superlative analytic form muy bien, while rejecting the synthetic form bienísimo (biencísimo). However, scientific grammar argues that both constructions scrupulously follow the syntactic and morphological patterns of the Spanish language, which makes them equally correct. Proof of this is that each of them expresses this “superlativization” in a substantially different way. This specific problem of dialectal linguistics serves as the pretext in this paper to expose the serious defects of traditional language teaching based exclusively on the prejudices and dogmas of the academic norm. These defects contrast with the virtues of modern linguistic teaching based on the scientific analysis of the true formal and semantic principles of natural languages and on the respect for each and every one of the cultural varieties manifested in the ever capricious and subjective evaluations of speakers.
