Summary/Abstract: Not only is translation of poetry an effective method of teaching poetry in a proper historical context, but also it enhances students’ acquisition of knowledge about realities of life in foreign countries and different cultures, not to mention the fact that it improves their linguistic competences in both the source and the target languages. What is important, translation is a holistic method, forcing students to think independently.
