Summary/Abstract: Although, it is possible to drive up to the development of urbanization and environmental education in Turkey until the first years of the Republic, the actual development began in the 1940s. Especially the industrialization that started before the Second World War and the results of the war deeply affected the whole world both in the war and post-war period. The process of rebuilding cities is particularly the driving force behind urban science education and studies. However, while environmental problems are rapidly added to the increasing urban problems, the international community has taken important steps approaching the 2000s. At universities in Turkey these important steps in terms of urban and environmental education have been taken mostly in the public administration departments. Particularly, public administration graduate programs are suitable for establishing a meaningful relationship between socioeconomic variables and critical thinking in urban and environmental education. This paper aims to both make an analysis and reveal a future perspective through city and environmental education given as a graduate degree in public administration departments in Turkey. The main questions of the study are the distribution of related programs in social sciences institutes according to whether this distribution differs for private and public universities, how lessons can respond to current problem and solution searches, whether there is a title differentiation among faculty members who give these courses. In this study, it is remarkable that despite the different course names, the contents of the course and course materials are limited. In addition, the distribution of the courses and the title difference of the faculty members who give these courses are also notable. In this context, it is clear that there is a need for a new perspective in terms of urban and environmental education especially at postgraduate level in Turkey.
