Summary/Abstract: As an affirmative concept, attitude is affected by many of the variables, and this in turn affects the learners’ skill development. Determining the effect of variables on summarizing attitudes of the students might be useful for developing summarising skills. The current study aims to investigate the attitudes of students towards summarising in terms of grade, gender, frequency of reading habits, and academic achievement in Turkish language courses. A total of 478 secondary school students attending a public school in the 2018-2019 academic years participated in this descriptive study. To collect the data, The Scale of Attitude towards Summarising was used. The scale involves 27 questions with two factors named “Like to summarize” and “Believe in Summarising”. Results show that students’ level of attitudes towards summarising is higher in terms of 5th and 6th-grade students, students with high academic achievement, students reading more and female students.
